#5. My Hometown (from Linda)

Hi Clara! In this BLOG I will be writing about my hometown, even though I think I’ve already told you quite a bit! Hehehe, but anyway… here in San Mateo, we have a lot of schools, including a community college. I myself live within a one mile radius of three schools! There isn’t a lot of crime but sometimes there are robberies and petty things like that. I once got my car broken into. Luckily, the police caught the burglars and I got my stuff back, but it was still quite a shock. in san mateo, the most common thing that teenagers do is to go downtown. Downtown, there is a movie theatre, coffee shops, restaurants of a variety of ethnic foods, pool halls, bars (not that we can go in hehe), and a train station that enables us to travel out of this somewhat boring town. and there are also two popular parks ( along with a bunch of small ones) that kids like to go to. Sometimes I like to go play basketball with my boyfriend there. But we don’t really play, we just shoot the ball around and other goofy things. San Mateo is a great town for families because of our abundance of schools, parks, and recreation centers. How is your town? When you go out for fun, do you usually travel outside of your town, or do you usually just stay within your town?

Job

Hi Maria Jose!

Well it has been a while since I have written to you or actually since I have heard from you. Well I don’t have a job and I am a student full time.I want to have a job inorder to be able to pay for my own personal expenses but my parents won’t allow me to have a job because they want me to stay focused in school and do my best. Although this summer I want to get a job since I will not be in school it will be easier for me. Well I will let you go and hopefully hear from you soon. Bye.

My Family

Well once again it’s me!

I hope you are doing good. Well I have already informed you about my family and there is not much more to say about that. As you know I have four sisters and I live with all of them at my parents house. Both my parents and my three older sisters work. Two of my older sisters attend college and one of them already graduated as a medical assistant. I love my family alot and we try to spend as much time possible together. How do you get along with your family? Well that’s it. I’ll be waiting for your reply. BYE!

Family

Greetings Javi,

How have you been my Spanish friend? I hope life is treating you well. Let me take a momment to tell you about my family . . . It consists of my mother, my father, and of course my slightly eccentric, yet lovable, little brother. My mother, brother, and sometimes my grandmother live in San Mateo in a quaint, little four bedroom home. My mom works for an airline company and is an amazing woman of 39. She is quite mellow and enjoys watching chinese soap operas, singing kareokee, and much, much more. She is a pettite woman around 5′0′’ and SINGLE!!!! So, if you’re ever in need of a date you could always call her up. Just kidding. My brother is 11, I believe. He has just entered junior high and loving, hopefully. He’s quite the odd ball, I would say. He enjoys videogaming, drawing(he takes art lessons), and a variety of other little boy activities. My grandmother, who drops by occasionally, is also quite eccentric. She is quite robust and has a very bubbly personality. She loves to cook authentic chinese cuisine when she’s around. I don’t enjoy the food that much, but i’m sure its great. Lastly, my father lives in San Jose. Although, he does work in San Mateo, so i see him quite often. He is always great to chat with and get some fatherly advice from. Don’t be fooled by his title of “father,” he is just as immature as I am. I hope you enjoyed this little glimpse of my wonderful family. Write back soon.

Farewell
Irving
