my hometown- Fina

I live in Barcelona. It’s a big city. Barcelona is a relly great place to live. It’s a very monumental city.
Lots of tourists visit the city for all the year. There are lots of five-star hotels and lots of good shops, and lots of nice restaurants and lots of interesting museums too.
There are about 2.000.000 people. It’s very difficult to find the flat, because it’s very expensive.
My flat is small (70 m2) : there are three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a living-room.
My flat is on quiet street. It isn’t near the centre. This street is poorly served by public transport: only bus. There isn’t any underground. The undergrund in BCN IS fast, but the bus is slow.
I have a nice big balcony (60 m2), I have plants, flowers and the sun.I have a small garden.
It’s nice !!!!

My Hometown (Lily)

Hello again!

As I have told you before, I live in San Mateo, California. It is a moderately small, suburban city. We have a great mall here. At the moment, a Coach store will be coming soon. You can do many things, such as go to the movies theatre, shop around in the clothing stores in downtown San Mateo, go bowling, go ice skating, or just try some of the great foods in the various restaurants we have. We have a park, called Central Park, here, which has a very peaceful Japanese Tea Garden (which is full of different plants, koi fish, and a pond) and a beautiful rose garden. I really like it here, since the weather is usually very moderate. A great temperature change for us would be 5 degrees Fahrenheit! I must admit the weather currently has a been a little strange (it rains and turns sunny on and off again), but usually, the weather is good. Then, if you want to go to a bigger city, San Francisco is a small drive away. You can visit Chinatown and buy great Chinese food and small fans, necklaces, purses, and much more from the shops. You could also shop at the large Macy’s; they have one floor dedicated entirely to women’s shoes!

I have grown up in this area for all of my life, and I’ve had a lot of fun here.

My Hobbies

I love to do many quiet, solitary things, such as drawing, reading, and making enormous, intricate collages. Most of these things, I do when I have a lot of free time, since they are pretty time consuming, and lately, that has not been very often. Thus, the last time I have ever drawn something was in class (of course, when there is no class work), and then I am usually doodling. I have not read a book at my own leisure in a long time as well; I think I remember telling you about the long list of books I want to read. One thing that I do all the time is talk with friends, either on the phone or online (by AOL Instant Messenger). I also enjoy watching movies and especially like romantic comedies. What kind(s) of movies do you like? Also, although I am not good at either, I like to go bowling and ice skate. Do you like to bowl?

Talk to you soon!

My Job

Hi. I hope it doesn’t get too overwhelming that you have to read so many posts at once. Well, currently, I do not have a job, and I never have had one. I have not been actively looking for a job at the moment, although I would like to work, since the idea here is that employers will not hire you unless you have work experience. While this does make sense, it was very frustrating for somebody who has not had a job to try to receive one. So I want a job both for the money to pay for college and the experience. Even though I am not working for money, at the present moment, I am working as a secretary for a club at our school. Every month I must fill out a form telling others about the progress of our club. Also, recently, I had to fill out an extra long form about the progress of the club for an entire year. At times, the work is boring, but I do enjoy being a part of something. Of course, I am also a full time student, which takes up a good amount of my time. Have you had any other jobs other than the ones you currently have?

Take care!

My Family

Hi.

It is so interesting that you have a son with my same age! Well, for me, I have a fairly small family. I live with my father, mother, and sister. My sister, Judy, is 14 years old, and she goes to the same high school that I do. Some people say I look like her, but I don’t believe them, although we did look a lot alike at the age of 4. She is shorter than I am. My mother has many siblings. She is the youngest out of six children, three brothers and two sisters. My father comes from a relatively small family. He has two siblings, one brother and one sister. Of course, each of my aunts and uncles have their own children, so I have many cousins as well. Their ages range from as young as 5 to as old as 36. I do not get to see them that much. However, my grandparents, both from my father’s and mother’s side, live in San Francisco, and we visit them often. Do you see most of your family often?

Talk to you soon!

Hi! I’d like to introduce myself.

Hi, Fina!

I’m Lily, and it’s very nice to meet you. I am Chinese and from San Francisco. I live in San Mateo, a city near San Francisco, with both of my parents and my younger sister, Judy. Although the city I live in is very small, there is a lot to do here. In my free time, I like to go bowling, ice skate, watch movies in the theatre, and go shopping. Other times, during the weekend, I go to San Francisco with my family and visit my other relatives, look at the things in the shops, and buy food. What do you like to do in your free time?

As you will probably know from my other post, I am a student at Aragon High School. I take my studies seriously. Mostly, I am interested in science. I love to learn about how our body works and other things. For more about me, read my post on the other blog!

Talk to you later!
