Hey Carmen! So today I will tell you about my hometown. I live in San Mateo which is a suburb near San Francisco. San Mateo is pretty big, there are about 90, 000 people who live here I believe. The weather is mostly nice since we arent too close to San Francisco we get moderate warm weather, though right now it has been raining for what seems forever. I like living here most of the time because not a lot goes on. Some of your main areas are the towndown where you can go and watch movies and eat with your friends. We have the Hillsdale mall which is a shopping area with different stores. The area in which I live I like a lot because it is pretty central and anywhere I want to go in San Mateo only takes me either 5 to 10 minutes. Overall it is a nice place with a few parks here and there. The main parks most people go to are Baresford Park and Central Park. In San Mateo we are also very lucky to be a diverse city in which many cultures mix and form our city. I have lived here since I was five and have always felt it was a safe place and a place to meet a lot of interesting people. One of my favorite places in San Mateo has to be Coyote Point. There is a nice park to go eat your lunch and you can then go and look at animals afterwards. The ocean is not far away with the bay just at a far glance. San Mateo is what I would consider a true suburban city which takes you away from the city life.

Hi Carmen! How have you been? I hope all is well and that I will hear from you again. So my hobbies, well I have a lot of hobbies. It is strange to think about hobbies because so many people don’t have an hobbies, but I happen to have a lot. One of my all time favorite hobbies is reading. I absolutely love to read, I read all the time and even when I have no time I find time to read. I think reading is just such a great hobby because it allows you to escape from everything else in your life and just relax, unless your reading a suspenseful book in which case it may not be too relaxing. A new hobby I have is sudoku puzzles, they are the absolute best! It is where you have to fill in all the boxes and the numbers go from 1 to 9 in the column and row as well as the 3 by 3 box. Heres a site if your interested in it http://www.websudoku.com/. Another hobby of mine is eating, I’m not sure how much this is a hobby, but it is in my dictionary. Eating is good, all sorts of food, like when I get home I eat and when I do my homework I eat. A hobby of mine that is unique, or at least I think it is unique, is watching trailers for movies, so movie clips for upcoming movies and watching funny commercials on my computer. One commerical I love is one with Jimmy Fallon, the commerical is for Pepsi, is is very funny. To start off, I do not really have a job. I pretty much go to school and then go home. The reason I do not have a real job, or a part-time job is mostly because my dad does not want me to get a job just yet. My dad tells me to wait to have a job because I will most likely have to be working for the rest of my life anyway. As well, my dad had to work a lot when he was a kid and just wants me to enjoy this last year at least. But some jobs I have at times include: cat-sitting, dog-sitting, babysitting and helping out at my mom’s school. For cat-sitting I just have to feed my neighbors cats when they are gone. When I dog-sit, I will go with my friend to stay at this persons house where they have this very spoiled dog. We have to stay overnight at the house because, acording to the owner, the dog gets lonely and needs company. Its pretty nice though because the owner pays us well. I only babysit sometimes and mostly they are the kids of my mom’s friends. During the summer when I get off of school, I will got to my moms school, she works at a middle school, and help grade papers and such. So there are some of my jobs, but they really aren’t job jobs. My family is somewhat small. I live with my mom, my dad and am an only child. Here in San Mateo we do not have any other family they lives here, so it is just us. The rest of our family all lives in Puerto Rico. It can be hard sometimes, during holidays, when we do not have any family but we have a lot of family friends who we consider to be like our family. My parents and myself try to go visit our family in Puerto Rico as often as we can, but it can get very expensive. When I was younger we would go visit Puerto Rico every summer but now it is almost every three years. My moms side of the family lives in Yauco, a small town in the south of Puerto Rico where she grew up. She has two sisters and she is the oldest. I do not talk to them as much as I do with my dads side because they aren’t the nicest people in the world. My dad’s family lives in San Juan and I talk with them on the phone most every other week. My dad has two sisters and is also the oldest child, I love his sisters they are the best!

My mom’s name is Maria and she is a spanish/french/life skills teacher. She teaches middle school and loves being a teacher. My dad’s name is Robert and hes a bank manager for Wells Fargo. He loves working with people and being able to help them with whatever they need at work. My parents and I get along pretty well and it is nice having them around. Talk you soon!

Hi, my name is Michelle and I live in San Mateo, it is around 20 to 30 minutes from San Francisco. I am 17 years old and excited to be going to San Jose State University next year. I love living here because I like to go to San Francisco on the weekends with my parents. I am an only child and I like it most of the time, but sometimes I would like to have a brother or sister but for the moment I have a pet lizard, a lepard gecko. I am very close to my parents and they are from Puerto Rico. My parents grew up in Puerto Rico and all our family lives there.

Some interests of mine are reading, watching movies and traveling. When I finish my homework in the afternoon I just love to read to relax. Mostly I read fantasy novels and mystery. On the weekends I rent whatever new movie is available and just watch it at home. My favorite movie is Sweet Home Alabama, but I watch mostly any type of movie. I love learning new languages and would like to travel more when I am older, but for now I plan to go to France this summer to visit some friends. So I wanted to know what kind of dancing you like?
