Hello Pilar again!

I live in sunny California in the city of San Mateo, which is about 20 minutes away from San Francisco. While most people may think that San Mateo is boring and uneventful, I really enjoy living here. Right now the weather has been kind of funky and it’s been raining a lot, but during the summers the days are always nice. There isn’t always much to do here but go downtown or hang out with friends, but I happen to think if you’re with friends there’s never a dull moment. San Mateo is near a lot of other attractions like the city (SF) or San Jose, etc. so if you get bored, you can just hop on a train or drive in your car to the next city. A lot of times my friends and I go to the city and shop or eat, or we just hang out at each others’ houses. I love living here in California because we live near the coast and beaches. I couldn’t imagine living in a rural state with nothing but hills and plains, and no oceans surrounding me. In a couple of months I’ll be moving to wherever I choose to go to college, and I’m thinking of going down to Southern California where it will be even sunnier. How about you? How’s your hometown? Hi Pilar! How are you? Today I’m going to tell you about some of my hobbies. For the most part, I’ve ending up spending a majority of my time with cheerleading and music. I love cheerleading a lot because dancing and performing at school is a very exciting activity. During the season, I practiced everyday after school, and sometimes I would have weekend practices for important performances. One of the best things about being on the cheerleading team is watching the football and basketball games. Our school isn’t that spirited but on big game days when the crowd gets big and into the games, it’s one of the best experiences ever. I only get nervous during games or rallies that are very important to me such as homecoming or halloween rallies. Being able to cheer at different schools is also a great part of being on the team. I really love my squad and it’s great when you work with a team who never fights. I also enjoy music a lot. I can never get tired of listening to music and I think I’d go crazy if I missed one day without listening to music. I take choir at school and in my spare time me and my friends enjoy going out to karaoke. Finally, as I’ve said before, shopping is my favorite thing to do ever.

I love dancing and listening to music. I love dancing in the disco, at home … I like listening to all types of music.
When I was a child I liked practising athletics. But, at this moment, I haven’t got any time and I don’t practise it. However, I love doing sports like running, cycling…
I love going to the cinema to see thriller films, comedy films and romantic films. I like TV shows like Friends, Smallville, The O.C. and other spanish TV shows.
In my free time, I study English on Tuesday and Thursday and I go out with my friends, go to the cinema, go to the disco or go shopping. The last hobby is my favourite one because I love buying clothes, shoes, earrings, necklaces, make-up…
At this moment, I haven’t got any time because I have got exams in the high school.

Hello Pilar!

How are you? As for me, I’m doing good. Today I’m going to talk to you about my job. I work at our local mall in a store called Nordstrom. Nordstrom is a clothing store and we sell kid’s clothing ,women’s clothing, men’s clothing, make up, and shoes. I work in the teen girls department called Brass Plum, or B.P. for short. I’ve been working there since June of 2005 and it’s such a fun job to have. I’m actually on this internship program for Nordstrom called the B.P Fashion Board, in which I learn about the history of Nordstrom, advertising, clothes and of course, fashion. My job isn’t the typical job that my friends have. I don’t work the cash register and I don’t sell clothes (even though I work at a clothing store). What I do actually do is model clothes for nordstrom and help out during big sales. The modeling aspect is the best part because not only do I get to wear clothes of the season that aren’t out, but it’s so much fun to feel like I’m actually being a model for clothes. Sometimes working for Nordstrom is bad because once I get my paycheck, I spend almost half on clothes because of my discount. I plan to continue working for Nordstrom until I have to leave for college so that I can save for college and have a great closet selection that will make my future room mate envy me.

Hello again!

This time I’m going to talk to you about my family. I’m an only child and I live with my mom, dad, and grandma. It’s kind of boring not having a brother or sister to talk to, but I guess it’s still ok. Yet, if I had the choice I would rather have a sibling. Outside of my immediate family, I have tons of aunt, uncles, and cousins all around. Most of my mom’s side of the family still lives in the Philippines, along with my grandpa who recently moved back there a couple years ago. My mom comes from a family of 11 brothers and sisters, so I have many aunts and uncles from that side. Each of my mom’s siblings have at least 2 children, so in total I think I have about 24 cousins in the Phillipines. My dad’s family is a lot smaller. He was born in New York and grew up in San Francisco. He has one brother and one sister, both of whom had two children. My parents were the only ones in their family who had just one kid. My dad’s family is kind of scattered around too. His immediate family lives around the bay area, but some of his family lives in random states in the U.S. As for the family that doesn’t live in the Philippines on my mom’s side, half live across the bridge, and the other live in South San Francisco. I would tell you more about my own family, but there’s really nothing to say seeing as we’re such a small family unit. However, even though I may not have a big immediate family, we still love each other all very much.

Hi! I am a student at the highschool in Prat de Llobregat, Barcelona. My highschool is called Baldiri Guilera. I am studying social sciences. This is my last year there. After that, I’ll take the school-living examination to go to the university. I would like to study Publicity and Marketing in the University of Barcelona. But, I don’t know if I’ll be able to get it.
Every day, I get up very early because the lessons start at half past eight AM and I finish at three o’clock PM.
To me the studies are very important because it is used for working in a well-paid job.
At this moment, I am studying English in the Official Language School (EOI) because I need this language for studying and working. I hope that I can go to the university to study Publicity.

Hello! I’ll talk about my family now.
I live with my parents and my brother in a flat in Prat de LLobregat, Barcelona. But my brother will live in Segur de Calafell because he bought a flat with my sister-in-law, Judith, there. I have a sister, too. But she doesn’t live with us because she is married with Óscar, my brother-in-law, and they live near us.
Now, I haven’t got any nephews but I hope to have some.
My family (uncles, cousins, …) live in Ciudad Real, Valencia, Navarra and here, too. But I see them in weddings, christmas, …
At this moment, I am single because I’m young. But I hope to marry and to have children. :p

My name is Chandamheer, but everyone calls me Chanda. I just turned 18 on Saturday and I’m a senior in high school that’s located in California. I have no brothers and sisters and no pets either. My favorite colors are pink and yellow and I’m usually a very happy person who love the sunshine. I like to be optimistic and cheerful about things. I’m the co-captain for our school’s Varsity Cheerleading sqaud. I love to dance and perform. I especially like to sing in the car while I’m driving.
